Hello Patrick, Allow me to add my knowledge on this issue... I don't like the "inox" exhaust items, when we are talking about an original restoration of an Audi 100/Coupe S cars. The Inox exhaust items maybe have more clean and shiny look, and they last loooonger, but at the same time they ...alter the very distingtive SOUND of our C1 cars (with the 1,9 and 1,8 liter engines on!). I do like the original SOUND which is quite unique. When I had runned the complete inox (including the front downpipe) exhaust system before 3 years, I was dissaponted to have more louder (they have lighter sound dampering stuff on the silanciers) noise, and there was a different ... DEPTH of the original c1 engine+original exhaust system, sounded like as a Golf I Gti!!!!! After this experience, I always prefer to have and use only the Original Audi exhaust spare parts. In comparisson with the aftermarket INOX items, they are cheaper, too! The only negative is that they are quite rare items. Look at my last collection of original Audi exhaust spare parts for my italian Coupe S (May 1971) which is under restoration, according the original Audi stuff.
In case of a custom made Audi c1 restoration, then, there is no problem and maybe there is no such questionmark, between INOX and original exhaust parts. I use and will continue to use INOX custom made (and expensive, too!) exhaust items on my orange quattro (3 inch inox pipes diameter all the way, 2 Racing metal catalysts).
I hope you understood my point of view...
My best regards to all of you!
